Red Sox Officially Release Smoltz

The Boston Red Sox have released John Smoltz from their roster.

   Smoltz went  2-5 with an 8.33 ERA. John Smoltz signed a one year deal with the Sox in January, he was still recovering from Shoulder surgery, He had not pitched in about a year. 

He was designated for assignment on Aug. 7. Smoltz will be able to sign with a team Wednesday.

The 42-Year-Old, Future Hall of Famer will NOT sign with his former team; the Atlanta Braves.
