It's widely known the reasons for why Michael Vick went to prison. Last week, many were shocked to learn that the recently released football player was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles.

I am a Vick fan despite his silly decisions and the reason why he went to jail. I am glad to see him back in the NFL and hope that Roger Goodell allows him to play as soon as possible. With that said, I have compiled seven reasons of why Vick will succeed in Philadelphia.

Why seven? For his jersey number, of course.

No. 7: Relying on Relaying

There's no clear word on Vick's role in Philadelphia yet, especially with there already being three other QB's on the roster. Regardless of his position on the football field, Vick will also be training for next year's Penn Relays.

No. 6: Anarchy Lives

The Eagles have had their share of media attention over the recent years. If it's not Donovan McNabb getting verbally attacked by radio personalities, it's Terrell Owens, Andy Reid's family life, or McNabb not being informed about draft picks. Vick should be just fine amidst all of that.

No. 5: Ben Franklin Eat Your Heart Out

One of the nation's founding fathers, Franklin was willing to risk electrocution for the benefit of his fellow man. Franklin, a Philadelphia native was the inventor of the lightning rod amongst other creations.

Vick has gone above and beyond being a lightning rod of his own. The amount of attention that surrounds this man, it is highly reported that Britney Spears has privately been funding the ex-Falcons player to make sure she remains to appear sane in the public eye.

No. 4: Stitch in Time

Philadelphia is the home of the Betsy Ross House. One can view the historic home of the nation's first flag maker over in Old City. While nothing can be proven at this time, historians debate Ross' part in the making of the first U.S. flag, as well as the very first Ron Mexico jersey.

No. 3: Becoming a Fresh Prince

Hollywood A-lister Will Smith, a Philly native, has signed on to star in the 2010 film Vick: Life's a Bitch. Smith has been shadowing Vick and Vick's mentor Tony Dungy for weeks now. After his portrayal of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, Smith is being pegged for another Oscar for this picture.

No. 2: City of Brotherly Love

Philadelphia is known for being the city of brotherly love. We all know Vick is a philanthropist in his own right and has no problem helping out his fellow man. He funded the Bad Newz Kennel for his friends. He would constantly shower his closest associates with gifts and even wrote a check to his mom where he deemed it along the lines of play money. Not to mention, allowing former business manager Mary Wong to transfer over $900,000 from his accounts into hers.

I don't see why everyone is so upset. He sounds like a nice guy to me.

No. 1: Feathered Friends

Most think that Vick is against dogs but he does like certain animals. It's obvious he is a lover of our avian friends. Not only has he played for the Atlanta Falcons and will now wear an Eagles uniform, Vick reminds us all that birds are number one.
