Portuguese midfielder Deco has announced during a press conference on Thursday that he won’t be at Barcelona next season. The 30-year old player has been under-fire recently at the Camp Nou and was booed by the fans during the Mallorca game.

Deco, who is under contract until 2010, has been given the green light by the Barca directors to look for another club.

"I will go to an English or an Italian club. But not Spain because the only club at the same level as Barcelona is Real Madrid and I will never go to Real," the Portuguese international said.

Barcelona completed their second season with no silverware and the bosses are planning to reshuffle the squad.

Coach Frank Rijkaard has been replaced by Josep Guardiola while players like Ronaldinho, Edmilson, Deco Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta have been tipped to be heading for the exit door.

Barcelona have been linked with half a dozen players like Rafael Van der Vaart, Diego, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

Could Deco head for England towards Chelsea or even Arsenal? Very likely. However, Deco's style of play is definitely more suitable for the English Premier league than the Italian Serie A.

  1. Would love too see him at Stamford Bridge. It would be difficult to fit him in but if he joined it would spell the end of some of our midfielders. Lampard maybe...

    1. YEAH! They will be an awesome team with Deco in the lineup. Well Lampard will probably go to Barca, or at least I think so.

    2. Deco to Liverpool, Rafa loves anybody who can speak spanish.

    3. Couldn't like Arsenal be a good fit for Deco?

  2. Deco is such a good passer of the ball with is vision and creativity. Chelsea have a truckload of central midfielders as it is - so I really don't know where they would play him. He should probably move to an Italian club where, I feel he would be very successful.
