The Braves, 7-2 against the Phillies this year, jumped on Blanton early in the first picking up a run. Blanton held the Braves down, giving up just one more unearned run, via error by sure-handed Pedro Feliz.

With the game tied at two, Ryan Howard stepped to the plate in the ninth against Sorniano who held a 0.73 ERA against the Phillies. Howard jumped on a change-up and sent it over the center field wall.

Brad Lidge again made it interesting in the ninth giving up a one out hit by Adam LaRoche. Lidge struck out Church to set up two outs and a man on second. He issued a walk to Norton.

With runners on first and second with two outs, McClouth sent a long fly ball to the warning track in left but Raul settled under it and closed out the game.

Give a lot of credit to Shane Victorino. He made two amazing plays out in center field. Making a catch crashing into the wall, then making another amazing running catch to rob Chipper Jones in right center.

This was a huge win for the Phillies gaining now six games on the Braves. Blanton pitched very well with help from the defense.
