MLB, Chicago Cubs, Rankings/List

I am still looking for a job, though the search is getting far more promising. So, for the time being, I still have lots of free time. Here is the third article today, and don't be surprised if another comes up later.

In my free time, I was just thinking of how awkward it is seeing Jim Edmonds in a Cubs jersey. So, I wanted to start an open discussion on which active players would look the weirdest in a Cubs jersey.

Here are my picks:

1. Albert Pujols: Could you imagine this? The anti-christ of Cubs nation suiting up in Cubbie blue, and hitting 50 homeruns for Chicago? Man, that would be wierd seeing him in Chicago.

2. AJ Pierzynski: I may have butchered the name, but the feeling is the same.  This guy is such a huge punk, and normally is one of the main reasons a fight or confrontation happens every year between the Cubs and White Sox.

3. Chris Young: If you don't know who this is, he pitches for the Padres, and took place in one of the most awkward fights I've ever seen last year with Derrek Lee. Both guys threw haymakers, but none landed. Quite frankly, it was hilarious.

4. Michael Barrett: Never gonna happen! But imagine if he came back. Would you welcome him, or would you cross your fingers that Carlos Zambrano kicks the crap out of him?

5. Alex Rodriguez: Do you want him? Lots of talk around this in the offseason last year. Sure would be nice, but man it would be weird seeing him manning the hot corner for the Cubs.

Those are my picks for players that would be awkward in Chicago Cubs jerseys.  I'm curious to read what you all respond with. Speak up Cubs Nation!

Go Cubs!

  1. This is an amazing topic and I wish I would've thought of it first! To literally answer your question: Pierzynski. There is no way any Cubs fan would want him on the team and he would look disgusting in our uniform.

Honestly, I would love Pujols in a Cubs jersey simply because of what he can do on the field. Barrett returning would be messed up and I think Big Z might retire if he knew Barrett was his catcher again.

Chris Young would be weird too, but he was just a blip on the radar last season because of the fight and really hasn't done anything else that would make him wrong to wear a Cubs jersey.

A-Rod in a Cubs jersey would look fantastic, and for a few weeks this offseason, that seemed like a legitimate possibility.

Great work and I think this topic could be expanded to other players or even managers too.....

  2. Yeah I too would hate to have AJ in a Cubs uniform, I really can't stand that guy. As for Barrett, he was never a good catcher anyway and we have Soto so who needs him regardless of the other things?
Another guy who would seem out of place in Cubbie blue would be Frank Thomas.

    1. Well Frank Thomas certainly fits the trend of getting older instead of younger...

  3. Ozzie Guillen would almost certainly look the most absurd

    1. HA! That would be awkward. Don't know if i'd approve of him managing the Cubs. I would, however, approve of me managing the Cubs. :)

  4. I have to agree with everyone on the AJ and the Thomas comments. I would like to add Bonds to the list - he is still looking for a job. Well at least until he starts in the California Penal League.

    1. I think Barry Bonds would look awkward in any team's uniform.

  5. Barry Bonds will look great in one uniform: Orange jumpsuits for the California Prison League.
