Why Vick Should Be Allowed To Play.

The NFL Preseason took a big twist last night during the Eagles and Patriots pre season game last night.  I was sitting in a bar enjoying the company of some friends and watching the game when through all the chatter I heard Michael Vick had signed with the Eagles.  Immediately I thought did I hear right on that one then my cell phone started going off from friends and co workers asking if it was true.  Once I got a call back from my old boss a sports reporter that had confirmed it, the news was now on every channels bottom line.

I heard a mixed reaction of cheers, boos, and flat out indifference.  I was in the indifference group.  While this signing will surely draw the ire of groups like PETA and some other dog lovers.  This really looks to be a good move for both the Eagles and Vick.  Vick is now a part of a functioning organization that knows how to deal with players with baggage and the Eagles add a weapon that might be able to help install the wild cat offense that Miami made the new fad in the NFL.

Most people are saying this man doesn't deserve a second chance.  Or "Why hire a criminal?"  Well the answer to this is purely from your own perspective.  While Vick did break the law he has shown extreme remorse and is working hard to make amends.  He's working with the Humane Society to make dog fighting prevention awareness more prevalant.  He served 2 years in federal prison.  2 years is a long time to be away from the people you love and also takes a toll on a person mentally.

Our society is based on second chances and how once you've paid your debt you "should" be allowed to resume your life.  With Michael meeting all the requirements laid out by society, why not let him play football again.
