Oakland A's: Kurt Suzuki Needs to Be Cut

Kurt Suzuki is in a slump. According to Wes Hofmann, perhaps what he needs is some negative chatter.

MLB, AL West, Oakland Athletics, Kurt Suzuki, Jeremy Brown, Satire, Rob Bowen (Oakland Athletics)

A couple entries ago, I wrote about how Jack Cust needed to be let go by the A's. And while it still wouldn't bother me if they got rid of Cabbage Patch Kid Face Jack Cust, he started hitting much better after I wrote the article.

Which leads me to the following statement: Kurt Suzuki needs to be let go by the A's.

Suzuki is hitless in his last 23 at-bats.

Rob Bowen got a rare start on Thursday, mostly because the game was early and it was "get away" day. Hopefully the day off for Suzuki helped him relax a little bit. Bowen did his best Suzuki impression by going hitless.

Bob Geren says Suzuki's slump is "mental." What Bob Geren will not admit is that batting Suzuki in the leadoff spot was mental.

In the last two games, though losses, Bob Geren decided to go with Rajai Davis at the leadoff spot. What? The fastest guy on the team and biggest threat on the bases in the leadoff spot? That's just crazy!

Somewhere Jeremy Brown is thinking about coming out of retirement, so look out, Kurt Suzuki.

  1. Jack Cust won the AL Player of the week honor after your previous article. Maybe, Kurt can 8-8 this weekend at Atlanta or get the honor next week against the first place Rays and defending world champs Red Sox. Guess, your article and my comment have already jinx Sukuki. Overall, the team has all around have offensive issues right now.

  2. Suzuki aside, batting Davis leadoff is "mental." He has no on-base skills, which is why he scores so few runs despite his speed. They finally got it right yesterday, leading off Hannahan.

  3. Wes have you changed your mind? Kurt Suzuki is the man!

Suzuki on monster seven-game tear: Oakland rookie catcher Kurt Suzuki continued his recent hot stretch with a single and one RBI Sunday against the Marlins. He has a seven-game hitting streak in which he is batting 14-for-26 (.538) with two homers and 10 RBI.

  4. Wow what a moronic post. Suzuki is young and has been one of the bright spots the A's have had this year.

  5. Michael, Suzuk is not a rookie.
