LT says he wants to play in the preseason but is there really a reason for him to play? I, personally, think he should play. In past years it has taken him two or more games to shake off the rust and really get into the swing of the regular season. He could eliminate those two weeks that could come back to haunt his team later in the season if he plays in the preseason.
LT also has plans to shake off all the rust before the regular season. He wants to be ready to go by the first snap of the season opener and part of his plans to accomplish that is playing in the preseason.
LT is injury free and with a new restructured contract, the team should let him play. The 2008 season is one LT, and the rest of the Chargers at that, would like to put behind them. LT isn't the only Charger that is eager to get back on the field and prove what they can do.
"LT looks great," Head Coach Norv Turner said. He also commented on how his offensive line and LT have set goals on what they want to accomplish this season. Hopefully we will get to see that from the opening snap of the regular season.
Some people think LT shouldn't play in the preseason and that he should wait because he has nothing to prove. LT, however, thrives to get onto the field and has somewhat of a desire to prove something; that he is still the star running back that he once was.
If LT does play in the preseason, there is always that chance he could get injured. LT, however, isn't even thinking about that. I think it is a risk the Chargers should take. If they let LT get back into the swing of things in the preseason, they will be ahead of their pace in past years going into the regular season.
So will we see LT play in this fast approaching preseason? I hope to see the back on the field this upcoming Saturday. I guess we will find out what the Chargers decide to do at their preseason opener this weekend.
