NHL, NHL Atlantic, NHL Central, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, 2008 NHL Playoffs, Preview/Prediction

For the past month, the hard-fought Stanley Cup Playoffs have been toughed out, and now are coming into their last stretch. Even though both of the conference final series are led by the Penguins and Red Wings 3-1, it is pretty much safe to say neither the Stars nor the Flyers are going to make a comeback. Both the Red Wings and the Penguins are playing too well and with too much heart to throw in the towel and let the opposing team complete a monstrous comeback.

Having said that, if the Penguins and the Red Wings do win their respective conferences, it will be very tough to say who will win the final series. The young and talented Penguins, or the veteran President's Trophy winning Red Wings?

In my mind it all comes down to what happens in the first two games of the series. If the Red Wings win the first two games of the series, it will be very hard for a young team to come back and win the series.

The only way I see the Penguins winning the series is if they win one or both of the first two games in Detroit. I believe this could decide the series, as the Penguins are yet to lose at home this playoff season, and i don't see it happening anytime soon.

It all comes down to the road games. If the away team wins a game on the road, it gives them a tremendous boost of energy, which could end up carrying them all the way to a Stanley Cup win.

  1. Good Article. I say the cup goes to the Penguins. Crosby is too much of a beast.
