I originally planned for this to be released on July 31, but I am such a procrastinator. I got some inspiration from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards so off to the awards.

I will feature such catergories as Wrestler of the Year, Most Overrated, Most Underrated, Best High Flyer. Hope you enjoy the show.

Wrestler of the Year

After coming off the heels of a white-hot 2008, Randy Orton quickly solidified himself by punting WWE Chairman Vince McMahon in the head on a Monday Night Raw that went almost to 11:20 PM.

The next week Orton won the Royal Rumble by lastly eliminating Triple H.

Orton won the WWE Championship at Judgment Day in a 6 Man Tag Match, but lost the title to Batista at Extreme Rules in a Steel Cage match.

He won the title back a week later in a Fatal Four Way Match when Batista tore his triceps.

Even though Orton has said to be booked like a coward, he has done more than enough to be recognized as Wrestler of the Year.

Runner Ups: Edge, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, C.M. Punk

Best Technical

Whenever someone is wrestling and the crowd chants, "Best in the world" repeatedly, it has to mean something.

Bryan Danielson, also known as the American Dragon, is considered the best in the world because he is.

Watch anyone of his matches and you won't be disappointed. He even faced John Cena in a match on Velocity and out wrestled him.

Being trained by the "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels himself, Danielson has a repertoire of moves so long and diverse hardly anyone even comes close.

Not many can reach the ability of Danielson and the man is a real treat to watch.

Runner Ups: T.J. Wilson (Tyson Kidd), Kurt Angle, Jack Swagger

Feud of the Year

When Chris Jericho moved from Raw to Smackdown in the WWE Draft, he started a feud with Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio.

Both cut marvelous promo in which Jericho claimed Mysterio and all the fans hid behind the masks while Mysterio rebutted that he wore the mask for his heritage and pride.

The matches in the feud were utterly amazing whether on television or pay-per-view, the matches is what really sells this feud.

Runner Ups: American Wolves vs. El Steenico, Sting vs. Mick Foley, Triple H vs. Randy Orton

Tag Team of the Year

Display_image

In a state of modern wrestling there are many great tag teams. Ring of Honor boasts some of the top tag teams and the American Wolves are the cream of the crop.

Consisting of Eddie Edwards, a very talented and young star, and Davey Richards, arguably one of the best pound-for-pound wrestlers in the world today, the Wolves are the current ROH Tag Team Champions.

The team is just so talented and could possibly goes down as one of the best. Both are future World Champion and have serious talent.

In a show in Toronto, Richards won a Guantlet match for a future title shot.

Runner Ups: Beer Money Inc., Edge and Chris Jericho, Team 3-D

Most Improved

After debuting with one of the worst gimmicks of all time and serving a suspension for violating the WWE Wellness Policy, Dolph Ziggler has come a long way.

After being drafted to Smackdown from Raw during the WWE Supplemental Draft, Ziggler has become a main player on the brand.

His current feud with Rey Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship has brought out the best in Ziggler.

Ziggler has taken a lot from his introducing himself to everyone gimmick. Many thought the gimmick would fail pretty quickly, but Ziggler has proven them wrong. He has come a long way from being Kerwin White's caddy and as a male cheerleader.

Runner Ups: Primo, Brutus Magnus, Zack Ryder

Best Talker

Display_image

It is pretty easy to pick Chris Jericho as the best talker. Even though Jericho has been calling fans hypocrites, sycophants, and parasites for almost a year, he is still drawing great heat.

Hearing Jericho cut promos is sometimes the best part of Raw, even though he is not a member of the brand.

Jericho has been one of the best talker of this generation of wrestlers and never becomes stale.

Runner Ups: John Cena, C.M. Punk, The Miz

Most Charismatic

Display_image

One of the most popular wrestlers in recent memory is John Cena. The reason why casual fans and little kids love him is because he has a ton of charisma.

Cena really knows how to work a crowd and put drama into his matches. The reason every match has him come back with the Five Moves of Doom every match is because crowds eat it up and Cena delivers.

Why do you think the guy held the title for almost a year in 2005?

Runner Ups: John Morrison, Kenny Omega, Shawn Michaels

Best High Flyer

Display_image

One of the fastest rising stars in WWE is John Morrison. He combines his skills of athleticism, charisma, and wrestling ability to get himself over. He is literally the total package of wrestling.

Some of his best moves are his high flying moves such as the Starship Pain, the Flying Chuck, and the Standing Shooting Star Press.

Some of Morrison's matches feature huge spots like the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania XXIV when he did a Moonsault while holding a ladder and doing a Shooting Star Press into a group of Lumberjacks during the Lumberjack Match on the Raw the night after Wrestlemania XXV.

Runner Ups: A.J. Styles, Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne), Jack Evans

Most Overrated

Display_image

Mick Foley is the easiest pick because after retiring from the ring in 2007 and becoming a commentator he came to TNA at the end of 2008 and became a storyline Executive Consultant.

When Foley first signed with TNA it was said to be a short term contract. Now Foley has been a TNA World Champion and wrestled in the main event of three straight TNA pay-per-views and takes the most TV time of anyone in TNA.

Runner Ups: Batista, Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash

Most Underrated

Display_image

Even though Austin Aries is the ROH World Champion, a lot of fans are probably unaware of his presence.

Aries' heel turn has completely changed him and took him to the top of Ring of Honor. The man can seriously talk on the mic and his move-set is incredible.

Aries one day will be a household name. It's not a matter of if but when he reaches the top of Pro Wrestling.

Runner Ups: Tyler Black, A.J. Styles, T.J. Wilson (Tyson Kidd)

Best Promotion

Display_image

The reason Ring of Honor is the best promotion is because it treats Pro Wrestling like a sport. ROH pushes itself as wresting and not sports-entertainment.

ROH boasts the best talent in the world and has some of the best matches and shows.

Guys like A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe, C.M. Punk and Christophher Daniels have come out of ROH and now has talent like Austin Aries, Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness, and Tyler Black.

Since ROH signed a TV contract the company has kept the same mentality and has stayed as the same wrestling alternative.

Runner Ups: Pro Wrestling Guerilla, WWE, Full Impact Pro

Best Television Show

Display_image

Ever since the WWE Draft in April, Smackdown has been the best wrestling show on TV. Each week never disappoints and we see great matches.

All the main event feuds on the show are always feud of the year worthy.

The main event matches on WWE pay-per-views are usually showstealers and the undercard of Smackdown always delivers great matches.

The only problem with Smackdown is that it is on a bad network on a bad TV night.

Runner Ups: ROH on HDnet, Superstars

Match of the Year

Display_image

There is no other match this year that came close to the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels' match at Wrestlemania. The match lived up to the hype and then some.

This was the match of the night and everything after fell flat on its faces. The much anticipated main event between Randy Orton and Triple H didn't even touch this match with a mile-long pole.

Light vs. Dark. The Showstopper vs. the Phenom. Mr. Wrestlemania vs. The Streak. The 30-minute bout will most likely go down as one of the best of all time.

Runner Ups: Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho-The Bash, Jeff Hardy vs. Edge-Extreme Rules, Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black III

Best Announcer

Display_image

Matt Striker is one of the best announcers because he tells it like it is. He is not a Michael Cole who pees himself everytime John Cena is in the ring, but explains that William Regal is one of the most respected wrestlers in the world or that Ezekiel Jackson is one of strongest wrestlers in the WWE.

Striker was once actually a wrestler so he knows what he is talking about in the ring. He and Josh Matthews seem to reach the younger demographic and they seem to really enjoy what they do.

Runner Ups: Jim Ross, Dave Prazak

Worst Announcer

Display_image

I don't even know where to begin with this guy. He knows nothing about wrestling and is apparently on his way out of TNA. The guy doesn't know the difference between a wristlock and a wristwatch.

Don West's portrayal of a heel commentator is just horrendous and I cringe each time I watch TNA.

The guy knows nothing about commentating a match and distracts the viewers from the match. With Jarrett's leave of absence from TNA, we might be lucky to see West gone.

Runner Ups: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, Mike Hogewood

Worst Match

Display_image

What can I say about this match that hasn't already been said or that is self-explanatory.

The match was atrocious and it featured two non-wrestlers. The ending was stupid and I cheered when it was over.

Runnner Ups: Vicky Guerrero vs. Santina Marella-Hog Pen Match Extreme Rules, Booker T and Scott Steiner vs. Beer Money, Inc., Chavo Guerrero vs. Hornswoggle

Worst Wrestler

Display_image

I think it is great to give little people a chance to live there dream and be a professional wrestler, but it is not okay for said little person to get victory week after week over established wrestlers.

Hornswoggle is a glorified comedy act that is not funny that is meant to appeal to little kids.

Hornswoggle has had victory over guys like The Brian Kendrick and Chavo Guerrero every week.

It is embarrassing to be a wrestling fan and seeing Hornswoggle recieve so much TV time each week. It also was hard to watch ESPN and how they made fun of Hornswoggle.

Runner Ups: Scott Steiner, Great Khali, Kevin Nash
