The Yankees completed their sweep of their Beantown rivals, and now take a commanding lead of the AL East at 6 and a half games up.

Andy Pettitte has been dominent in his last 4 starts and last night he pitched another fantastic game. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball but didn't leave with a win. The Yanks took a 1 to 0 lead when A-Rod hit his 21st homer in the bottom of the 7th, but Phil Coke came in to pitch the 8th and gave up a 2 run blast by Victor Martinez. Which led to Andy getting another hard luck no decision.

It wasn't looking good in the bottom of the 8th when Jeter tried to check his swing but still hit the ball right back to the pitcher Daniel Bard who tossed to first for the second out. But then the Bombers unloaded, Damon slapped one into the Yankee Bullpen, Teixeira hit a towering shot into the second deck in right. Then A-Rod and Posada got on and Swisher batted one up the middle, 2 runs scored. All in all 6 Yankees got on base with 2 out.

Well you probably know the rest of the story. The Great Mariano Rivera comes in, Yankees win 5 to 2. The Yanks improved to 69 and 42 on the season, Mo picks up his 32 save in 33 opportunities, Coke gets the win to improve to 4 and 3 on the year. The Pinstripers host the Blue Jays for three, starting tonight at 7:05, Segio Mitre goes for New York and Marc Rzepczynski is on the mound for Toronto.

The Yankees have never not made the Playoffs with this big of a lead this late in the season.
