Alex Kovalev: Love Him or Hate Him

Kovalev is arguably one of the most talented players in the NHL.  Just watch his Warrior Promo Video and you'll see why.

In the 2006-2007 season, Kovalev was in a slump only producing 18 goals and 29 assists for only 47 points in 73 games.  It wasn't a great season for someone with that much talent and spirit.

This past season had been a breakthrough for Kovalev. He finished the season with 84 points in 82 games. He was the hero countless times in the regular season and the playoffs, scoring last minute tying goals in the third period or shining with overtime heroics.

When he's on the ice you can tell he knows what he's doing. He has remarkable puck possession skills and a deadly one-timer.  Being on a line with players such as Andrei Kostitsyn and Tomas Plekanec provided a big boost in his passion for the game this year rather than last.

When Koivu was out with his injury, Kovalev stepped up to the job of captain.   He was a huge piece to the puzzle of Montreal's late season climb to the top of the Eastern Conference.

Now that Kovalev has gotten another taste of the playoffs, we'll be sure to see him come out with all cylinders firing.  He will no doubt want the feeling of success for himself and his team once again.
