What's Next For Brian Bowles?

A.E GuzmanContributor INovember 11, 2016

Newly crowned Batamweight Champion Brian Bowles, who claimed the belt from Miguel Angel Torres at WEC 42, is looking at a stacked Bantamweight division looking for his belt.

Besides the obvious rematch with Torres, Bowles might also be facing supposed No. 1 contender Dominick Cruz, who earned a decision against Joseph Benavidez on the same card.

If there is to be a Bowles-Cruz fight it will be a action packed, non-stop head to head slugfest. Both fighters have a great stand-up game. Brian Bowles is sure to give us a fight since he has not gone to a decision once in his short eight fight career. He has three KOs and five wins by way of submission under his belt.

Dominick Cruz has had a quite impressive career wining 14 of his 15 fights. Under his belt, the 25-year-old Dominick Cruz has five KOs, one submission, and six wins by decision. Dominick Cruz was quick to say that he deserved a title shot after defeating Benavidez.

And I think I speak for everyone when I say that he surely does.

Dominick Cruz may be the No. 1 contender now, but Takeya Mizugaki is another top Bantamweight contender looking for the belt after being beaten by Torres by way of unanimous decision back at WEC 40.

Brian Bowles certainly has his work cut out for him.
