Ohio State Football, NCAA Football, Preview/Prediction

I am finally back, I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and have not had the time to write. I was sitting here watching a copy of the Scarlet and Gray game and couldn't help but think about B/R.

I have been known to bring havoc on this site with my articles on the Buckeyes and how they are the team of the decade. Yes, I said it. Despite losses in back-to-back national championship games, the Bucks are poised for a third straight title game.

I know this will cause a shockwave across SEC country and pretty much everywhere else in the nation. It's not the Buckeyes fault that the rest of the teams couldn't close the deal.

We were supposed to be rebuilding and instead we found ourselves back in the title game. We had to play against a senior-led team and a damn good one at that. All the best to LSU and their fans, but 2008 is the year of Buckeye Nation.

I know, start your comments here with me. I am a big boy and can take it. If you are a true college fan, though, you can't deny the Buckeyes are coming and they aren't taking any prisoners.

This year, the non-conference schedule is much better, with a Week Three matchup against the darlings of college football. I believe this to be the most important game of 2008. You take the two best teams over the past 10 years ad match them up, with the winner being in the driver's seat to Miami.

It's hard to argue that the Bucks, after losing only Vernon Gholston, will be the team for 2008. I know many people see Georgia as the number 1, but to me they still have a lot to prove on the national level. Remember Bulldogs it was just Hawaii.

My top 5 going into 2008 would be 1. Ohio State 2. Georgia 3. USC 4. Oklahoma 5. West Virginia. Then I would have a mix of teams including Florida. Don't think I forgot you Gators, even though you have a used car salesman at coach.

Now, before I part to going back to making the world a safer place let me say this, Michigan, I never really liked you before but I respected you. Now you have an absolute snake at coach who is disloyal, and above all doesn't even respect the game. He is going to be the downfall of your program, so I will give you an early prediction on our yearly slugfest: Ohio State 1,000, Michigan 0.

Good luck to all the rest of the college football teams and for you Michigan, GO BLOW!!

  1. As a level-headed OSU alum, even I wouldn't call Ohio State the team of the decade. They'd be in the conversation, but you can't put them ahead of USC or LSU at this point. Two titles are always better than one.

  2. They need to run the table to be able to make it. Even with 1 loss it will be very difficult.

I think they can do it but it won't be easy!

    GO BUCKS!!!

  3. i agree to disagre Jeff. If you look at simply titles that isnt the criteria it is consistency yeare after year and OSU has done that better than most if they go this year thats 4 title games in 7 years unheard of in college football anymore. Show your true Scarlet andGray GO BUCKS!!

    1. Sorry man, I speak with my brain and not my heart. You can't match OSU's resume up with USC's and say the Buckeyes have a better resume. You just can't.

One national title, another shared national title, another BCS championship game appearance, 6 straight conference titles (and counting), 6 consecutive BCS game appearance (with a 5-1 record in those games, by the way)...talk about consistency. And unfortunately, USC has not been blown out and humiliated in any of these games. Their lone loss was in what was arguably the most exciting game of all time.

As I just demonstrated to you, I'm not simply looking at titles. So I'm pretty sure it's fair to say that you were dead wrong when you claimed I was. I'm an objective Buckeyes fan, a rare breed. Our resume this decade doesn't hold up against USC's.

  4. I agree, then add the one they are going to get in 2010 with Terrelle Pryor and thats 5 in first 9 years

  5. I'm about as pessimistic a Buckeye fan as they come, but if Ohio State manages to eke out a win at USC, I'll be interested in seeing how all the naysayers disregard it as a fluke. I mean hell, according to most college football fans/diehard Buckeye haters, Ohio State hasn't won anything legitimate since 1968.

  6. I must be the only person in the world that thinks USC is highly overrated right now.... they don't even have a proven QB and they lost a lot of O-line. Not to mention they also lost their best linebacker and best defensive lineman... I know they have great young talent but at this point it is all unproven. They will be a good team nonetheless but... Ohio State is going to take the game at Southern Cal... I think our toughest game is going to be at Wisconsin or at Illinois... we gotta shut down Juice this year!
