Patrick Kane, a budding star with the Chicago Blackhawks who won the 2008 Calder Trophy as the league's best rookie, was arrested early Sunday morning in Buffalo.
Kane, who is the face of EA Sports NHL 2010 video game and was voted a starter in the 2009 All-Star Game, allegedly hit a cab driver.
This comes as breaking news to fans who watch the Blackhawks; not because one of the best young players on the team was in a police car, but because Kane actually hit someone.
The biggest knock on Kane in his brief career has been that he's just not physical enough. Granted, he looks like he's more physically ready for driver's ed than the Western Conference Finals, the fact that he hit someone has to bring a smile to faces of his coaches and teammates.
The cab driver alleges that Kane and a relative asked him for change around 4 o'clock in the morning Sunday, and when he didn't have 20 cents they hit him and refused to pay for a $13.80 cab ride.
What are rookie salaries in the NHL these days? Somebody get this kid a credit card!
It's pretty funny to think that Buffalo cops probably had to decide between juvenile detention and "grown-up" jail for Kane, who won't turn 21 until the middle of the coming season. All this over a $13.80 cab ride.
Really?
