I am sorry for such a late update.
The Cubs lost yesterday 4-3 behind a Khalil Greene three-run home run that was part of the four-run forth inning that gave the Padres a 4-3 lead, a lead which they would hang onto for the whole night.
The Cubs scored in the first, on a Soriano lead-off home run. They later scored in the second inning when Reed Johnson doubled in both Mark Derosa and Geovany Soto.
Jason Marquis pitched five-and-two-thirds innings allowing four earned runs on nine hits, while striking out three and walking one. Alfonso Soriano picked up two of the Cubs' seven hits, while getting one RBI. Reed Johnson went 1-for-4,a two-RBI double in the second inning.
The Padres registered a home run from Greene and Jody Gerut doubled, driving in Shawn Estes. Estes pitched five-and-one-third innings, allowing three runs, two of which were earned, on the seven hits while striking out two. Shawn Estes picked up his first win, and Trevor Hoffman recorded his seventh save of the season.
Tonight the Cubs will send Ted Lilly to mound, who is 3-4 with 5.24 ERA, against Jake Peavy who is 4-2 with a 2.47 ERA. Game time is set for 7:05 pm CST.

I'm glad the Cubs were able to bounce back off that loss and beat Jake Peavy. Hopefully they can come back and play well against Maddux. Nice article! Go Cubs!
