It was a tense game.

Fast moving, physical. Good, clean, crisp, passes. Hard, accurate shots.

The Dallas Stars facing elimination in their home building.  The Detroit Red Wings needing just one bounce or call to go their way in order to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Commissioner Gary Bettman and Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly in attendance to present the Clarence Campbell Trophy if the Red Wings were to win.

Now that is pressure.

But the Dallas Stars responded well to the pressure, taking game four from the Red Wings with a 3-1 victory in Dallas in front of their home crowd.

Marty Turco was superb in this game, stopping 33 of 34 shots for a save percentage over .960.  Chriss Osgood was just okay, stopping 19 of 22 shots, for a save percentage under .900.

Loui Eriksson opened the scoring for the Stars with just 23 seconds remaining in the second period, putting a hard wrist shot past Osgood.  Stephane Robidas and Joel Lundqvist had assists on the goal.

Henrik Zetterberg tied the game by putting the Wings on the board just 49 seconds into the final period. Pavel Datsyuk fed a pass to Zetterberg, who put a wrist shot past Turco.

Mike Modano scored the game-winning goal just over five minutes into the final frame.  On a power play, Sergei Zubov fed beautiful pass to Modano in the slot, who slapped a one-timer past Marty Turco, who could do nothing but watch the puck sail by him.  Brad Richards got the secondary assist on the goal.

Brendan Morrow added an insurance marker at 14:34 of the third period by shooting a wrist shot through the five hole of Chris Osgood.  Mike Ribeiro and Sergei Zubov had assists on the play.

The real story of the game, however, was the Detroit goal that was disallowed in the second period of the game.  The game was still scoreless, and a Detroit shot was put on net with Tomas Holmstrom standing directly in front of Marty Turco.  The puck went through, yet the referee immediately displayed the "wash-out" sign, indicating that the goal would not be allowed, because of goaltender interference in the crease.

Replays, however, showed that not only did Holmstrom not touch Turco, but he was also not in the crease at all. In fact, he was a few inches outside of it.  This call may or may not have changed the momentum of the game, but it indeed changed the outcome, as the Wings would have had a lead in the game.

Either way, though, Dallas came out on top, and now trails the series 3-1.
