This a list of the NBA's top 5 small forwards, entering the upcoming 2009-2010 season.
I want to hear from you all on who on this list is worthy and who you think may not be worthy.I hope you enjoy my article, and this should be one of the best NBA seasons in history this year alot of parody and good teams.
5.Caron Butler
Butler's all-around game has flourished since being traded to the Wizards in the 2005-2006 season. He has scored an average of 20 points and grabbed nearly seven rebounds per game over the last 3 seasons. Cleveland should want no part of what could be the East's biggest sleeper if the Wizards can stay healthy.
4.Tracy McGrady
Everyone wants to talk about how he hasn’t led his team out of the first round, but you can’t always blame Mac when he’s putting up stat lines like 29 points and 13 dimes in Game 7s and his teammates don’t come through. Whether it is checking the opposition’s best wing player or creating off the dribble, there isn’t a thing he can’t do on the court. When he is healthy,he still can put up all star numbers.Since he's been hitting the injury bug these past 4 seasons he has slipped on this list.
3.Paul Pierce
Even at his advancing age, Pierce is clearly the third best small forward in the game today. Pierce has sacrificed some of his scoring in order to make the Celtics a more complete team and is averaging 'just' 20.5 points per game this season but has become a much better all-around player that can still take over whenever the situation warrants as he showed n last season's playoffs. Sure, other small forwards may average more points per game than Pierce, but when it comes to overall effectiveness, I'll take Pierce every day of the week.He also has one thing the other 4 players on this list don't have,a championship ring.
2.Carmelo Anthony
Anthony can put the ball in the hole like nobody's business as witnessed by his 22.8 points per game average and his breakout performance in last years playoffs. Past immaturity issues hamperd his development both on and off the court despite his high-scoring offensive outbursts. But since Billups came aboard last season he seems to have had a positive effect on Carmelo and he seems to be matureing now. Still, there aren't many players on the face of the planet that can score the ball like Anthony can.Let's not forget,he is always going to be compared to Lebron and Wade, and he measures up right there with them with leading his college team to a title aswell as being in the playoffs each and every year he has been in the league.Wade and James can't say that, they have both missed the playoffs in there careers. For those who say the NCAA title he won doesn't count,it sure does when future hall of fame considerations come along when his playing days are over.Your college career counts along with your NBA career when being considered for the HOF.
Lebron James
Who else did you expect here but James? I'll go on record right now to say that it's only a matter of time before James wins and NBA Championship or two. One of the league's leading scorer at 28.4 points per game is undoubtedly the best all-around player in the game today and a sure-fire Hall of Fame inductee who also averages 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists per contest. Did you know that James is one of just four players in league history to average over 25 points, six rebounds and six assists per game in a single season, joining legends, Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan?
