Tampa Bay Today announced the signing of Scott Kazmir to a four year contract extension with a fifth year option that could see him stay with the club through the 2012 season.
The contract gives Kazmir a guaranteed $28.5 million, that could go as high as $39.5 million including a fifth year option.
Kazmir has been referred to as the last key Tampa Bay Ray that had yet to have a large contract signed, with Shields and Pena inking deals over the off-season.
So far this season, Kazmir has only two starts after a lengthy period on the Disabled List for an elbow injury.
He is 1-1 this season with a 2.70 ERA, and is unlikely to compete for the American League strike out crown due to his late start.

Its gunna be nice watching him pitch in the bay area for a atleast a few more years. He pitched good on Thursday and hopefully can stay healthy the rest of the year.
