New Husker Football Poster Is a Testament to Nebraksa Tradition

I got a copy of the 2009 husker schedule poster today, and it was awsome.

The poster shows the progression of coaches from the last 50 years. On the left is Devaney, to his right is Osborne, to Osborne's right is Solich, and to Solich's right is BO.

Now, it's an awsome picture, but I just can't shake the feeling that something is missing from it. It's kind of like someone was left out, but I just can't remember who.

Oh yeah I know, Nebraska left out the guy that was supposed to be the savior of our program. Where's Bill Callahan?

I mean, come on, they can't put Solich up there with Devaney and Osborne. He was a horrible coach, or at least that's what fans told themselves. And when people tried to defend Solich, the excuses given were that he couldn't cut it and the game had passed him by.

So where's Callahan?

Wasn't he supposed to be the savior? Wasn't he the guy that was supposed to raise Nebraska out of the ashes? That's why he was hired right?

And yet, here we are six years later, and we can't even put him on our posters?

I don't want to say Husker fans are fickle, but when Nebraska hired Callahan, everyone felt fine with throwing Solich under the bus to promote him. Now, we have no problem putting Solich up there right next to the icons of our beloved football program.

Maybe the next time Nebraska moves toward another coaching change, and I hope that won't be for a long time, the program will think about what it is doing, and hopefully it will do it for the right reasons and not just to get rid of someone it doesn't like.
