Judge Judy to Senator Arlen Specter: Sit Down and Shut Up, the NFL Doesn't Care

Bryan Thiel received word that there was a confrontation between Judge Judy and Arlen Specter—which was much more surprising than the fact that Specter is still trying to "solve" SpyGate.

NFL, New England Patriots, Bill Belichick, Arlen Specter, Satire

Matt Walsh and Roger Goodell had their meeting, the Boston Herald apologized for publishing a false story, and the New England Patriots are now looking towards the 2008 season.

You'd think that SpyGate can be put to rest.

Not so fast, says Arlen Specter.

In a move that has the entire sports world groaning and wishing congress would just back off and stick to their own business (national debt, international conflict, and Roger Clemens sitting outside recording studios in a white, unmarked, delivery van), Arlen Specter is taking matters into his own hands—or at least trying to.

Despite the fact that Goodell stated that there were no new infractions committed by the Patriots after viewing the footage Walsh presented, Specter insists that action should still be taken against the Patriots.

Specter was so insulted by the NFL's attempts to amend the situation (or "cover it up," in his opinion) he was forced to use the word "pooh-poo" in an interview.

Now that's a man who was offended.

The fact that Specter's ramblings were ignored by the NFL forced him to seek outside help from television arbitrator Judge Judith Sheindlin. When confronting her on his best course of action, Judge Judy passed on some sage advice that she's given to many of her accused and plaintiffs.

"Sit down and shut up. No one's talking to you right now."

Specter did not take kindly to the advice, but Sheindlin was adamant that this was his best course of action, and the best advice she could offer him at this point in time.

"That and I'm from New York," she said. "I hate Texas, why would I help a Senator named after a city there?"

Despite his failed attempts, Specter remains committed to holding a "Mitchell Report-esque" investigation into the illegal filming, if only to find out that Jimmy Johnson, Terry Bradshaw, and Dan Marino were right and that this kind of cheating is quite common place.

Although no date has been set, Specter has told Americans to rest assured that this will "cost a lot of money, which could probably be better spent in other areas. However, it's important that we are able to alter the results of football games from six years ago. These are the kinds of things today's society is concerned with and need to have happen so we can move forward together."

Aside from any and all footage that the Patriots used of opposing playcallers, Specter is demanding tape of every one of the Belichick's childrens' birthdays, as well as demanding that Tom Brady's parents surrender the tape of his high school graduation, in hopes that Bill Cowher will be directing his offense somewhere in the background.

I guess when you're Arlen Specter, you can never be too careful.

  1. Let's see...

    - Punish the Patriots for what they've done against the Jets (check)
    - Meet with Matt Walsh (check)
    - Turn over all of the tapes Walsh had (check)
    - Apologize for that report about the Rams' walkthrough (check)
    - Realize the Patriots didn't do anything wrong

All of those aren't done...Specter is defenitely makin a huge deal about this. Doesn't sound right coming from a Republican senator.

    1. Wow props to you for writing these most idiotic comment on this site. Please refer to your first dash and then read your last dash. Yes, you are a moron.

  2. It's not that they didn't do anything wrong, because they clearly did. But they were punished extensively for what they did.

Specter is a grandstanding moron who, if he's worried about NFL role models, maybe should be trying to shut down the drug den being run out of the head coach of his favorite NFL team's house instead of worrying about in-game infractions, which basically is what the Patriots did.

Or maybe he should worry about taking money from Comcast and other large corporations who work specifically against the interests of the people he's supposed to represent.

To say nobody has ever questioned his integrity is insane. Every politician's integrity is questioned....he just doesn't seem to have enough for us to bother questioning it anymore.

Good God I hate Senator Specter.

  3. Can we just be done with this whole Patriots scandal? I am not even a Patriots fan. I just don't care anymore.

    1. ... and it's Baseball season for god's sake.

    2. Damn, L.J.! That's two in a row! Are you slipping?

  4. Senator Specter = Bitter Eagles Fan and Douchbag

No offense to any real Eagles Fans intended.

  5. are you kidding me. why not drag it out over the next 15 years.

if you make the punishment harsh enough it won't be done again or will make it very hard for it to be done again.

fact: everyone and every team that cares enough about winning is going to push the rules to the breaking point to gain an advantage on his or her opponent.

  6. ........... and people wonder why Belichick is always grumpy

  7. Quick update: Roger Goodell will interview current Jets QB coach Brian Daboll based on a conversation he had with matt Walsh, who witnessed the Rams' Walkthrough (not taped but witnessed) this is absolutely sickeneing. Specter doesn't even have any jurisdiction in this case... no law was broken and sports are for the most part unregulated by the governemnt barring a crime. Let it die already... 9 months is long enough.

  8. The Patriots have not been punished enough. They cheated, regardless of what or how they did it. Belichick was fined $500,000. So he can't buy another ragedy sweatshirt. Don't even give me the excuse of the first round draft pick. Oh no they didn't get the 31st pick. They still got the seventh pick, which they benefitted from. They got a top linebacker at ten and a third round pick. Specter is the only one with the guts to stand up to the Patriots.

  9. Chris, seriously! Do you realize what the Patriots would have done with pick 31? They would have drafted Brandon Flowers, Phillip Merling, Kenny Phillips, or done something creative and traded with Kansas City or some other sure-fire losing season team for their 1st round pick next season. The Patriots would have been scarier with 2 first round picks or the flexibility that would have come with it. This certainly was justice. It isn't as if they did not destroy 60 or 70% of the teams they played to include the Jets. Wake up and get over it. The Patriots were one of the best teams last season and possibly one of the best ever. They deserved their wins and the punishment they received but it was enough!

    1. Jason, seriously! shut the hell up!!

  15. Chris, seriously! haha jk.
I agree with the majority here in that the issue is being beaten in way to long now. We know they cheated, and they are and will always be somewhat branded as cheaters. Yet that shouldn't take away from 3 superbowls and 4 appearances in 6 years. Its not like the game film overruled a clear fumble, didn't hand Marshall Faulk the ball enough in the superbowl, gave vinatieri the ability to be the most clutch kicker ever, or made donovan mcnabb lose all his energy. Besides all the haters out there (which i am no patriots fan so you can bunch me in that list) should take enough solace in the fact that they were robbed of a perfect season by Eli Manning; justice and punishment has been done. New season means time to move on.

  16. Sorry about that repeat. My computer was acting funky. I guess Joe there is either a moron or a joker. Thanks for the useless comment.
