Layin' It All Out There: My College Football Predictions

Mike GreenspireContributor IAugust 5, 2009

Ahh, it's great don't you think? The autumn breeze, the smell of cookouts, and the aura of football. That's right, football is just around the corner, and I'll be the first one counting the days. But since I grow tired of waiting, I feel some college football predictions are necessary. So, I'll give you the winner of the two major conferences that I feel need discussing, and a short blurb of why they will win. Be ready to tell me why I'm wrong at the end!

Big 12

Ooh, my favorite conference to watch as of the past 2 seasons. The traditional powers of Oklahoma, Texas, and A&M are being challenged by "newcomers" Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

In the end, I have to go with Texas to win the Big 12. I really wanted to pick Ok.State, but they lost by 3 scores to Oklahoma last year, and couldn't quite pull one out vs. the Longhorns, so I'm going with UT to win that conference.

Big Ten

Ohio State and Penn State are the two most obvious picks to win the Big Ten in 2009. The way they played so hard last year, it's hard not to like their chances, especially since they both look better now than they did 11 months ago.

But, (don't call me a homer. haha) I have a less obvious team that could take the Big Ten title. Michigan State. I really like the way they looked last year, and in my opinion, quarterback Kirk Cousins has more raw talent and potential than Brian Hoyer did last year. So, I have to go with Sparty.

Let me hear your thoughts!
