Multiple sources (ESPN, Canzano) are saying that shooting guard Brandon Roy and the Blazers are very close to an agreement on a max contract extension. Hopefully, tomorrow we know for sure that Roy is locked up for five more years and $80 million.

There was no need for this process to linger on any longer. Nobody in Rip City enjoyed hearing that the Blazers and Roy weren't on the same page when contract talks began earlier this summer.

This is how the contract negotiations should have went:

Pritchard: How's it going Brandon? We'd like to offer you a maximum five-year deal, with the fifth year being a player option.

Roy: Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Pritchard: Great. Anything else I can do for you?

Now it's time to get things figured out with LaMarcus Aldridge. Hopefully, he knows he won't get Roy money.
