Whether its a soft drink, shaver or latest pair of designer sun-glasses, corporate Britain has consistently employed footballers to sell their brands. Now car insurance company Aviva has jumped on the football bandwagon too, although they have taken a slightly more laid-back approach to their sales tactics.
Professional funny man Paul Whitehouse stars as the lead Plymouth Argyle fan - the Pirates bein gthe most South-Westerly professional team in the football league - opening with the line “it costs a fortune supporting Plymouth Argyle. Newcastle away today. That’s a long haul poke, innit!”
A splattering a local jokes are then sprinkled throughout the ad including “Alright Big Dave! Alright Bhey, Alright Burrd! Geddon you Janner!”
