You'll be seeing this black and orange number 21 as the Giants make a push for the playoffs. Clearly, Freddy Sanchez is exactly what the Giants needed.
In his debut he went 2-4 with a 2 RBI double. His fielding is far more superior than any of the other Giants second basemen this year. With Rentaria and Sanchez up the middle they are looking to make a statement.
Not only did the Giants aquire Sanchez, they got Ryan Garko. Although Garko hasn't been what every Giants fan has been expecting, he will come around. Just give him  time. With Sanchez coming in it should take some pressure off of Garko. Ryan Garko's defense isn't fantastic, but the Giants needed another power hitter.
If the Giants can outlast the teams in the hunt for the Wild Card, I think they can go far in the playoffs behind the arms or Lincecum and Cain. And if Randy Johnson can come back in September, he'll bring his playoff experience along with the Giants.
Even though the Giants didn't get Matt Holliday from the Athletics, the Giants left fielder Eugenio Velez has made a big impact at the top of the Giants lineup in the games he's played in. With Rowand coming back from an injured forearm, he is looking to put a little more pop back in the offense. With all these contact hitters it will be interesting to see how many runs they can stake up against good teams.
We know they have pitching, Cain and Lincecum are both in the race for the Cy Young Award. Cain and Lincecum are both atop the N.L. in wins.
If the Giants can keep up their great pitching and their potent offense look for the Giants to be in the playoffs.
