The American Pastime............Baseball

The baseball season is 162 games long.  There are winning streaks and losing streaks.  There are highs and there are lows.  But the one constant is that if you don't want to support a loser any more or be associated with losing we can freely choose what team we want to watch or follow.  It is this freedom of choice each one of us has.  No one likes losing, unless you were a Cub's Fan back years ago.  We can choose a particular player we like or relate to who exemplifies the true image of what a ball player is.  He can hit a bunch of home runs, steal bases, strike out a lot of batters, be an exceptional defensive player, etc. etc.
But it is the "freedom" we have without anyone telling us who to like or not like.  Baseball is a sport but it is a Team Sport.  There is no "I" in team remember?  Without all the parts coming together winning is a struggle and no one individual can carry the team for 162 games.  Why not?  Can he play every position? Can he knock in all the runs? Can he pitch every day every game and win for his team?
Nine players joining together, supporting each other, encouraging those who want to take the blame for a loss, sticking together through the best of times and the worst of times, and playing baseball with desire, determination, confidence and resiliency to bring winning results and have the fans enjoy watching this "team" play the sport of baseball with passion and pride.
I am proud to be one of those "fans".  Are you?
