NFL: Post-Draft Power Rankings 1-10

Is it ever too early to talk about the NFL here in the United States?

Some may say it is, but football is what fuels many Americans' sports needs.

Here are my NFL power rankings from spots 1-10, because it's never too early to talk about football.

Is it?

1. New York Giants

Let's be realistic, are they the best team in the NFL? No, but they are the world champions and that counts for something. Still, that is why they automatically get the No. 1 ranking in these power rankings. I don't believe champions should be anywhere but No. 1 before a season begins.

2. New England Patriots

Last year's runner-up may be getting older, but much like a fine wine I think the Pats will be extremely good this upcoming season. They may not go 16-0 in the regular season, but they are currently the front runner in the AFC. A trip back to the Super Bowl wouldn't surprise anybody.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars

Yes, this team is better than the Chargers and the Colts. Garrard was a very steady quarterback last season, and Jones-Drew and Taylor are an amazing one-two punch. Don't forget, Jacksonville's defense is very good and only got better this offseason. I believe they offer the best competition to the Patriots in the AFC.

4. San Diego Chargers

Phillip Rivers and LT will hopefully be able to keep their arguments on the sidelines to a minimum this season. Injuries last season, especially in the playoffs, derailed their chances. With a healthy lineup, this is a very scary team.

5. Dallas Cowboys

Is this going to be the year the Cowboys win a playoff game? The Cowboys haven't seen a victory in the playoffs since the days of Aikman playing quarterback. They are bringing back the same roster, minus Julius Jones. Time will tell if this is the year that they have a breakthrough in the playoffs.

6. Indianapolis Colts

Much like the Patriots, this team is getting older in many key areas. They do have some great young talent to help the veterans. Offseason trouble for Marvin Harrison could play a big role in what kind of season he has.

7. Seattle Seahawks

Beneficiaries of a weak division, the Seahawks are also very consistent. Since departing with former team leader Shaun Alexander, the Seahawks picked up Julius Jones. The Seahawks are looking to win the NFC West once again, but it could be tough with the improvement of the Cardinals.

8. Pittsburgh Steelers

After a season that saw the Steelers lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars at home in the playoffs, the Steelers return with an attitude of "let's get some revenge on the rest of the league." The Steelers drafted a bull in Rashard Mendenhall to back up Willie Parker.

9. Cleveland Browns

The Browns were a huge success last season, only just barely missing the playoffs. Derek Anderson remains the starter, but with Brady Quinn waiting in the wings, is it possible that everything Anderson does will be under the microscope? One bad game and the reins could be handed to Quinn. The Browns will also look to have another great season from Jamal Lewis, who had a sort of a comeback last season after being written off by many analysts coming into last season.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers and their eight quarterbacks look to build on a solid season last year. Tampa's defense is just as solid as it has been in recent years but it is getting older. The offense isn't bad, but it could use another receiver to step up other than grizzled veteran Joey Galloway. The Bucs should be able to win the NFC South division title once again, unless Carolina plays up to their standards this coming season.
