V-Mart Vs V-Tek. V-Mart Has To Be The Starting C

Victor Martinez trounces Varitek offensively by wide margin's. This is not news.

V-Mart and V-Tek both throw out about the same amount of runners.  Varitek gets the nod defensively, no where near enough to make up for the offense though obviously.

"But Varitek calls such a great game and is valued more for his ability to work with our pitching staff, that is worth his terrible offense and worth his salary alone"

Every one else seems to survive just fine. If I subscribe to that nonsense than I could just say "But V-Mart caught 2 Cy Young winners in a row last season and the season before that, while V-Tek also did that, it was 10 years ago and with the same pitcher"

Mike Lowell getting the lions share of time off for V-Tek/V-Mart platoon is probably what will happen, but that would just be a shame. He needs to have proper rest, but when he is in the line up he is far, far more dangerous than Varitek ever will be.
