Tim Lincecum questionably the best pitcher in the National League once again. His 191 strikeouts blow his competition out of the water, with almost twenty more strikeouts, then Verlander of Detroit who is currently in second with 172 strikeouts.
Lincecum has proven game after game to be one of the most dominate pitchers of the 2009 season, dealing a career high 15 strikeouts against Pittsburgh he then, goes on to obliterate the defending world series champs, by keeping Philadelphia scoreless through eight innings. The win over Philly puts him second in wins with 12, only one away from the leader.
If Lincecum can stay this consistent, there should be no question when it comes to 2009's National league Cy Young award. The new edition of Freddy Sanchez will help Lincecum keep the wins rolling bringing more batting to the lineup.
Tim has thrown eight or more strikeouts in his last ten games straight. All this combined, makes Lincecum a very strong candidate to repeat the Cy Young Award for this 2009 season.
