This is my on going series Thoughts for the Day, wherein I discuss one or more random thoughts going through my mind that day per team, usually about a particular player. Today's focus is on the NFC. Chime in with your thoughts. Oh yes, the smell of training camps has every NFL fan salivating about our upcoming first view of live NFL action.

Hakeem Nicks

CHARLOTTE, NC - DECEMBER 27: Hakeem Nicks #88 of the North Carolina Tar Heels runs with the ball against the West Virginia Mountaineers during the Meineke Car Care Bowl on December 27, 2008 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. (Photo

Giants' rookie WR Hakeem Nicks is #1 on my rookie sleeper Fantasy radar. A prime case of measurables having little to do with what being a football player is all about. Some compare him to Anquan Boldin, and I can see that. The want to, the refusal to be tackled, he is a dedicated worker and looks to be NFL ready out of the gate.

LeSean McCoy

PHILADELPHIA - MAY 1: Second round draft pick running back LeSean McCoy #29 of the Philadelphia Eagles practices during minicamp at the NovaCare Complex on May 1, 2009 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Hunter Martin/Getty Images)

With Brian Westbrook banged up, and frankly maybe from being a little overused for the Eagles for a couple of years, rookie RB LeSean McCoy has an opportunity to step in and make some noise.

Felix Jones

IRVING, TX - OCTOBER 05: Running back Felix Jones #28 of the Dallas Cowboys runs past Leon Hall #29 of the Cincinnati Bengals at Texas Stadium on October 5, 2008 in Irving, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

I was skeptical about Cowboys' RB Felix Jones before last season, but now I am excited to see more out of him.

Colt Brennan

I think Jason Campbell is a solid QB, and could even be a great one in the right system. I don't think he is in the right system right now playing for the Redskins and at first glance last preseason Colt Brennan looked like a perfect fit.

Aaron Rodgers

GREEN BAY - DECEMBER 7: Quarterback Aaron Rodges #12 of the Green Bay Packers passes the ball during the game against the Houston Texans at Lambeau Field on December 7, 2008 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. ( Photo by: Jeff Gross/Getty Images)

I think Aaron Rodgers did a phenomenal job in his first season last year for the Packers. Somehow it was overlooked, but people, remember, that was his first year as a starting QB in this league. He displayed more zing on the ball than the departed legend Brett Favre did in NY, and put up monster numbers. By all accounts, it was one of the most impressive coming out parties I have ever witnessed. I think he deserves to be called one of the top 10 QBs in the league and after this year, maybe higher than that.

Jay Cutler

LAKE FOREST, IL - MAY 20: Jay Cutler #6 of the Chicago Bears points to a defensive formation during an organized team activity (OTA) practice on May 20, 2009 at Halas Hall in Lake Forest, Illinois. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

The Bears' signing of Jay Cutler may turn out to be one of the best deals in the history of the game. Cutler has a golden arm. Remains to be seen whether he turns out like Jeff George despite it.

Tarvaris Jackson

MINNEAPOLIS - DECEMBER 21: Tarvaris Jackson #7 of the Minnesota Vikings scrambles under pressure from John Abraham #55 of the Atlanta Falcons during an NFL game at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, on December 21, 2008 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Photo

Tarvaris Jackson should be the starting QB for the Vikings, although Sage Rosenfels would probably do pretty well behind Center also. I just like Jackson's arm and mobility. He needs to work on his confidence, but he has solid skills. I think yanking him after two games last year was a sin. At the end of the season despite not getting the entire year to develop like he should have had, he went 3-1 in the last 4 games and threw 4 TDs vs the Cardinals. The thing holding back Jackson is the Vikings.

Calvin Johnson

INDIANAPOLIS - DECEMBER 14: Calvin Johnson #81 of the Detroit Lions gets past Antoine Bethea #41 of the Indianapolis Colts to score a touchdown on December 14, 2008 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)

I love the Lions' WR Calvin Johnson, but again, who is throwing him the ball? A rookie, or a weathered vet playing behind a bad offensive line? Which choice is better?

Josh Freeman

TAMPA, FL - MAY 01: Quarterback Josh Freeman #5 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers throws a pass during the Buccaneers Rookie Minicamp at One Buccaneer Place on May 1, 2009 in Tampa, Florida. (Photo by J. Meric/Getty Images)

I think rookie QB Josh Freeman should start for the Buccaneers. Byron Leftwich has too long of a wind up, and Freeman is the prototype NFL QB.

Jake Delhomme

CHARLOTTE, NC - JANUARY 10: Jake Delhomme #17 of the Carolina Panthers reacts at the end of the fourth quarter during the game against the Arizona Cardinals during the NFC Divisional Playoff Game on January 10, 2009 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlott

Personally I think Panthers' QB Jake Delhomme is done. He has been an overachiever for years but the jig is up.

Matt Ryan

GLENDALE, AZ - JANUARY 03: Quarterback Matt Ryan #2 of the Atlanta Falcons drops back to pass in the NFC Wild Card Game against the Arizona Cardinals on January 3, 2009 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The Cardinals defeated the Fal

Falcons' Matt Ryan could be The Premier QB in the league in a couple of years when Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are winding down.

Lance Moore

SEATTLE - OCTOBER 14: Wide receiver Lance Moore #16 of the New Orleans Saints celebrates a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field on October 14, 2007 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images)

Maybe this is the year people finally start taking Lance Moore seriously as a Saints WR, tough to get recognition when you are playing next to Marques Colston though.

Beanie Wells

TEMPE, AZ - MAY 2 : Chris Wells #26 of the Arizona Cardinals runs drills during a team minicamp at the team training facility on May 2, 2009 in Tempe, Arizona. (Photo by Jonathan Willey/Getty Images)

I can't wait to get my first look at Beanie Wells. I am high on Tim Hightower also, don't get me wrong, but Cardinals fans have been waiting for a RB to be drafted #1 to pan out for many many years. Last one in recent history was Thomas Jones, and while he has gone on to perform very well since, he was a bust in Arizona.

Marc Bulger

ATLANTA - DECEMBER 28: Quarterback Marc Bulger #10 of the St. Louis Rams is sacked by linebacker Stephen Nicholas #54 of the Atlanta Falcons at Georgia Dome on December 28, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Doug Benc/Getty Images)

I feel for Marc Bulger. His mentor Kurt Warner has been long gone, as has his teacher Mike Martz for a few years. Now he is left on a rebuilding Rams team with a leaky O-line.

Vernon Davis

MIAMI - DECEMBER 14: Tight end Vernon Davis #85 of the San Francisco 49ers tries to hurdle cornerback Will Allen #25 of the Miami Dolphins at Dolphin Stadium on December 14, 2008 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Doug Benc/Getty Images)

Could it be that Mike Singletary is the one that can get Vernon Davis to finally play up to his potential?

Julius Jones

SEATTLE - NOVEMBER 02: Running back Julius Jones #22 of the Seattle Seahawks is wrapped up by Brodrick Bunkley #97 and Stewart Bradley #55 of the Philadelphia Eagles on November 2, 2008 at Qwest Field in Seattle, Washington. The Eagles defeated the Seaha

I don't know if the Seahawks addressed their RB situation in the offseason well enough for my liking. Julius Jones is soft.
