NEW YORK - JUNE 25: NBA Commissioner David Stern poses for a photograph with the sixth overall draft pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jonny Flynn during the 2009 NBA Draft at the Wamu Theatre at Madison Square Garden June 25, 2009 in New York City. N

The Timberwolves drafted two point guards this past NBA draft. The questions of Jonny Flynn and Ricky Rubio playing together are really sketchy, and implausible.

But I can honestly say would be elites in their rookie class'. One has to wonder, who's the better point guard?

In this slide show, I will compare the two based off of the categories that make point guards "True Point Guards".

Passing

NEW YORK - JUNE 25: Fifth overall draft pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Ricky Rubio makes his way to the stage during the 2009 NBA Draft at the Wamu Theatre at Madison Square Garden June 25, 2009 in New York City. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknow

This was so hard to compare. Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn are both excellent passers, but I'm afraid that the edge goes to Ricky Rubio. Johnny Flynn is no doubt, a guy that can average 9 or 10 assists with a little more work, but his turnover rate was very high in the summer league. Ricky Rubio's passing is otherworldly.

He makes passes from every angle as if he had eight arms and eyes in the back of his head. Ricky Rubio wins this category.

Speed & Quickness

NEW YORK - JUNE 25: Sixth overall draft pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jonny Flynn is congratulated by members of his entourage during the 2009 NBA Draft at the Wamu Theatre at Madison Square Garden June 25, 2009 in New York City. NOTE TO USER: Use

A absolute vital point guard trait has to be speed. "How far can a point guard get from free throw line to free throw line"? While Ricky Rubio has some type of speed, I honestly think that Jonny Flynn can keep up with the likes of Rajon Rondo and Tony Parker.

Ricky Rubio has longer legs, but Jonny Flynn has extreme explosiveness, and there's not that many that can stay in front of him once he get's going. Johnny wins this one.

Shooting

Ricky Rubio never had a knack for shooting "very" well, and neither does Jonny Flynn. So If we were to go off of that, then it would be a tie.

The reason I give the edge to Jonny Flynn is the fact that despite the fact that he shot over 50% from 3-point range in the summer league, his stroke got way better. Jonny Flynn "looked like a shooter".

Ricky Rubio has gotten better as a 3-point shooter as well, but does not possess those skills off the dribble as well as Flynn. Flynn wins this one.

Basketball I.Q.

BEIJING - AUGUST 24: Ricky Rubio #6 of Spain moves against the defense of Chris Bosh #12 of the United States in the gold medal game during Day 16 of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games at the Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium on August 24, 2008 in Beijing

I don't know about basketball history as well as I should, but it's plausible when I say that point guards invented the term "basketball I.Q.". While Jonny Flynn posesses a "B" I.Q, Ricky Rubio's I.Q would have to be a "B+". His passes and court vision are just otherworldly.

I can't see Rubio not getting smarter at the age of 18, and that's not to say that Jonny Flynn doesn't have a soaring I.Q. But I think Rubio has an edge here.

Defense

BEIJING - AUGUST 12: (R-L) Ricky Rubio #6 of Spain attempts to steal the ball from Chen Jianghua #4 of China in the preliminary basketball game held at the Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium during Day 4 of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on August 12,

This one was tough as well. On one hand, you have a 6'4" monster who can overwhelm you with his height and length that will cause matchup problems for the best of them. Then on the other hand, you have an absolute brute in a 6'0" stature who gives anyone problems with his quickness and in your face attitude.

However, the edge goes to Ricky Rubio. While both I feel can average the same amount of steals, I don't think that Flynn would block as many shots as Flynn.

Randy Foye and Derrick Rose has been seen blocking shots, both 6'4" and 6'3" respectively. I give this one to Ricky Rubio

Athleticism

This was the first trait that was a no brainer. With the additions of Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo and Brandon Jennings, it appears that the new era of point guards have some type of crazy athleticism.

Even Chris Paul can be seen doing crazy acrobatic layups for dunks on a fast break. Jonny Flynn's athleticism is right up there with Rondo's and Rose's. He's been seen dunking, and has even windmilled the ball with ease.

He has the speed and quickness to compliment it, and he's not afraid of contact whatsoever. Jonny Flynn wins this one.

Play Styles/ Versatility

BEIJING - AUGUST 24: Ricky Rubio #6 of Spain lays the ball up past Dwight Howard #11 of the United States in the gold medal game during Day 16 of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games at the Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium on August 24, 2008 in Beijing, Ch

I think that both Flynn and Rubio have versatilities to their game. They both can play the fastbreak and the half court offense. It's a question of "who does it better"?

I think that Ricky Rubio does this just a slight bit better, although I could be wrong. I think he has a better chance of picking apart a defense on a fastbreak, while both Flynn and Rubio have an even amount of skill in the half court offense.

Give this one to Rubio.

Leadership/ Charisma

MEMPHIS, TN - MARCH 27: (L-R) Jonny Flynn #10, Arinze Onuaku #21, Paul Harris #11 and Andy Rautins #1 of the Syracuse Orange sit on the bench late in the second half before losing to the Oklahoma Sooners during the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament South

Jonny Flynn wins this one by a landslide. I can honestly say that Jonny Flynn is impossible not to like. He embraces every obstacle and he is a true leader on the court. In fact, Sam Cassell said that Jonny Flynn is a "true floor leader".

Ricky Rubio is a leader on the court, but in the past he's displayed some immaturity. He also is not very verbal on the court, not as much as Flynn anyway. Flynn wins this one.

Who's Better?

It's very hard to say since I have not seen Rubio play as much as Flynn, but I'm going with Flynn. Things could change in a year, but there were just no category's that Rubio dominated Flynn in, but there were some that Flynn dominates Rubio in, such as athleticism and charisma.

I just think that right now "Flynn's the better point guard". I could be wrong, but if you ask me, that's my answer.
