Closers Jason Isringhausen of the St. Louis Cardinals and Eric Gagne of the Milwaukee Brewers have both have been demoted from the closer’s role after getting off to slow starts. Both of the veteran closers have blown five saves this season. Isringhausen, with 11 saves, has a 7.47 ERA; Gagne, who is earning $10 million this season, has a 6.89 ERA and 10 saves to his name.
