Reds Or Jays? Who Wins The Rolen Deal?

I'm on the fence as to who won the Scott Rolen Trade. I wrote an article about it today (past link) and after evaluating things it boils down to a few things.

1. Rolen has been great this year and justifies his large contract

2. EE has been terrible. He's a poor fielder and is suited for DHing. The problem is that the Jays should have 4 outfielders next season in Lind, Wells, Rios and Snider. Is EE going to be held to platoon duty.

3. Zach Stewart has great upside but a suspect track record and control issues.

The word is that Rolen wanted out. How many players have asked to leave Toronto in the past five years? Quite a few.

This trade will have to be re-evaluated in two or three years. Until then it’s a tough call. My gut tells me the Reds might win out at the end of the day.
