Making the best of the situation, It is time to examine who the Padres received in the Jake Peavy deal. Above is Clayton Richard, who figures to step into the Padres rotation immediately. Richard is a hard throwing left-hander, with two seasons of MLB service time. Quoting Padres GM Kevin Towers from MLB tv, " Richard will start tomorrow" (Saturday.)

Aaron Poreda comes to the Padres, another left-handed starter, and given the current state of the Padres rotation will be starting almost immediately.

No, the Padres did not get former 49er Dexter Carter, they got White Sox farmhand Dexter Carter. Carter figures to start his time as a Padre down in Portland.
