Just when you thought no bad news could come in about Villanova basketball, Reggie Redding screws up.
'Nova had many top recruits in the country coming to play, and they were ready to add these to the already great team. They are posed for another Final Four Run.
But rising Junior forward, Reggie Redding, has been arrested on charges of an undisclosed amount of marijuana. Sources are now saying that the amount was "small".
Small or not, Redding is in the wrong.
Public Safety officers at Villanova University had been made aware of a damages sign on the campus and notified the local Radnor police.
Radnor police ran a search of dorm rooms that led to the discovery of a damaged car, which was eventually traced to Redding.
This is the type of thing that follows you for a long time.
No additional details have been released, but things have the potential to get real bad for Redding.
The Villanova Student Handbook lays out strict disciplinary actions for the use, or possession of drugs, including marijuana.
The handbook states that punishments range from "...disciplinary probation plus an automatic fine of $750.00, up to and including suspension or expulsion from the University...".
Well, for basketball's sake, lets hope it's only the first two, as the second two would definitely damper the teams chances this upcoming season.
Redding played very well last season, especially in the NCAA Tournament to help Villanova to the Final Four.
He is poised to make a huge impact on next seasons squad, so lets hope that he pays the price, but not as far as expulsion from the University.
