MLB, AL West, Seattle Mariners

The 2008 Seattle Mariners' season died late on Monday in Arlington, at the young age of six weeks.  It was a tragic loss, as the young season barely had begun to embark on its journey of life.

The cause of death was a combination of many factors, and doctors will not pinpoint the precise cause of death until a full autospy has been performed.   However, many others have speculated on the true cause of death, and rumors include:

  • Complications from old age(d players)
  • Inflated expectations
  • Rib and back injuries
  • Cancer(ous clubhouse members)
  • Lack of skill
  • Brain (trust) disease

The city of Seattle has taken the news pretty hard, and will hold public memorial services throughout the summer at Safeco Field.

The 2008 Seattle Mariners should be a reminder to us all that life is fleeting and can be taken away when least expected.  They are a reminder to us all to play every game like it is our last.

The 2008 Seattle Mariners were survived by the expectations for 2009, campaigns to fire Bill Bavasi, and the chance to spoil rivals' seasons.

  1. Wow! This really is very brutal! They should sell the team to Los Angeles or Tacoma or something! I mean really, DO SOMETHING! We watched them a couple of weeks ago at Safeco Field, we were so bored it caused my bff's husbands hemmoroids to flare up. And after 4 cups of beers. I was drunk and bitter! They really need to bring Griffey back! My Oh My!

    1. Luckily for you the Mariners had a scout in NYC to watch the Mets/Reds game. Presumably to check out Griffey and try to work out a trade.

  2. I understand bringing back Griffey is going to add another 2-5 thousand people per game. It would be a huge marketing deal and make the team more money. But wouldn't bringing him back just add to the rumors why the Mariners season is dead. Cause I read those points and thought about Griffey's career the last few years.

    1. Yeah, if you read my comment, I don't say anything about my approval or disapproval of a trade. In fact I am 100% against it. What I want is for the team to sign him in the next offseason.

  3. Also I'm suppose to mention that the Rangers play in Arlington, not Dallas. My friends that live in Arlington wanted me to point that out, they hate it all the time that when anything sports happen in the DFW area, the media always credit it to Dallas. I don't mind, I live in Dallas county, more pub for us. There I did my civic duty.
Otherwise, what kind of flowers do you want for the Mariner funeral?
