Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz Reportedly Tested Positive in 2003

A report was just recently released on ESPN.com stating that former Red Sox outfielder and current Los Angeles Dodger Manny Ramirez and current Red Sox first baseman and DH David Ortiz tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs back in 2003. 

Lawyers with knowledge of the results reported them to The New York Times. 

The news is very interesting, especially in light of Ramirez just coming off his recent 50-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. 

Ortiz, who has had a disappointing season to this point, has been accused of using steroids and/or other performance-enhancing drugs at some point in his career. 

Ramirez had a .325 batting average in 2003 for the Red Sox with 37 home runs, while Ortiz had a .288 batting average with 31 home runs for the club. 

Both of the players played major roles in Boston winning the World Series in both 2004 and 2007.

This news, although probably not surprising, can't be good for the Red Sox nation.
