The New Jersey Devils want Brendan Shanahan, but does he want them?

Devils' general manager Lou Lamoriello admitted today that his team is interested in the 40-year-old winger, but he will let Shanahan make the final decision, which they expect to come by the end of next week.

Personally, I liked what Shanny brought to New Jersey last season. He would continue to be an asset in both the locker room and also to some of the younger players, who could learn from Shanahan's tenacity, and his willingness to put the team first.

I'm aware he has lost a step, but mentally he makes up for it by positioning himself in the right spots, and he could help the Devis' power play, which always seems to shoot itself in the foot quite often.

Maybe he'll even go old school and wear his old number eleven jersey now that John Madden signed with Chicago.
