On July 29, Everton confirmed that they had just rejected Manchester City's second offer for English defender Joleon Lescott, which was worth £18 million.

This has been City's second offer for Lescott, as earlier in the month, they launched a £15 million bid for Lescott, which Everton rejected.

Everton boss David Moyes has already stated that no player will leave Everton during the summer transfer window without his approval, and the bid was quickly rejected by Everton, as they beat the Major League Soccer All Stars in Salt Lake City after rejecting the bid.

Also, a potential deal further collapsed earlier on the 29th when Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha signed a new five-year contract, as Everton may have been prepared to do business if Onuoha could have been part of a new deal.

Lescott, who lives in the Manchester area, has been interested in hearing City's plans for him, but Everton have said that it would take at least a £28 million bid for Everton to reconsider their options with Lescott.

With this latest rejection, it appears that Manchester City have failed to sign another defender during this summer's transfer window, following John Terry's decision to stay at Chelsea instead of joining Man City.
