The Yankees, coming off a two-loss series against the Detroit Tigers, need solid pitching to guide them through the upcoming series against the Tampa Bay Rays and their dangerous lineup.

In this four-game series, the Yankees have their scheduled starters in order, with Andy Pettitte, Chien Ming Wang, Mike Mussina, and finally the stable Darrell Rasner to close the series.

I have solid trust in all of these pitchers, and I think that if the offense puts up four or five runs a game, the Yankees will be in good position to take the series.

It is hard to dismiss a Rays team that is in second place of a competitive Eastern Division. The Yankees need to look to knock Tampa Bay's starters out of the game early, and then seal the games shut against a the Rays' rocky middle relief.

This is really the last series of the duct-taped together Yankees, with Alex Rodriguez projected to come back on Friday, to start the series off against the cross-town Mets.

The Yankees are not a complete team whatsoever right now. They are going to need to build momentum by doing well in this series if they want to be competitive against the rallying Mets.
