The Next Community Leader (Satire)

Our illustrative leader, Long John Silver, will be replaced as Community Leader of the Tennis Domain soon. This is indeed sad and shocking news for us all.

But as rational a person as Long is, I am sure, as he says on his bulletin board, he is not regretting this unduly, nor would he want us to. I am sure the best we can do is to carry his legacy forward in as best a manner as possible.

A Shout Out to you, Long: "We will still live Tennis together and you will show us how!"

The following is intended as a collection of some thoughts on a lighter note on how the CL's message board would look like if some of the Tennis Creatures here take over.

----------------------------------------------------

1. Robert Orzechowski and Rob York - CoCLs

Significance of the Day: Equal prize money announced at all events for men and women.

Robert: "Equal prize money for men and women! It is totalitarian-aristocratic-feudal-communism at work."

Rob: "The only reason why anyone in this community would say it is communism to give equal prize money is that Robert has suggested the possibility."

2. Gil and TIM RUFFIN - CoCLs

Significance of the Day: Nothing in particular.

Gil: "All the best Roger! Get another 10 Slam Titles and prove all those Roger haters (Rafa lovers) wrong!"

TIM RUFFIN* : "Roger looks the favourite for the coming season, but there is a 13-8 h2h he has to encounter in all the finals. I am not saying it is everything, but it is not nothing either."

(*As an aside, I think it will be a good idea to nickname TIM as TIGER TIM, for the way he fights for what he believes in. TIM, I am saying this with the full knowledge that you cannot physically harm me over the internet!)

3. Joan Allen

Significance: Wimbledon 2010 starts.

"The Dew drops, the lush green grass, the lemonade, the pineapple juice (that I am drinking?) all give me a feeling that the great man will again crush the competition like how he normally does."

4. Rohini Iyer

Significance: Google and Bing add complete support for Japanese translation including transliteration from English.

"Watashi Aringomatzu Gomaritzu Sayanora Samurai Roger Suzuki Yamaha Honda."

5. reredeF0regoR

Significance: B/R allows CLs bigger Message Boards.

"

"

6. Frankie

Significance: Many people post links on her BB asking her opinion on their articles

"FYI: I am a girl. My real name is Francesca. Please remember that when you post stuff. LOL!!!"

7. like12badgers and Sergei Zikov - CoCLs

Significance: Debate goes out of hand in B/R Tennis Domain as to who is the GOAT.

like12: "Federer is the best ever. I declare that whoever contests that and the fact that he is gonna beat that Nadal kid in FO this year, is an idiot."

Sergei: "People, I am completely disappointed by your lack of knowledge. Rod Laver effectively won 19 Grand Slam Titles. Do I need to say more?"

8. Leroy Watson

Significance: He is going to get an AOTD award that day

"Today is a great day for the Tennis Column. Read Rajat's awesome analytical work, Rob's deep insights, and Joan's literary marvel."

----------------------------------------------------

This surely will contain many ideas I may have accumulated about the people referred to here from conversations/articles (especially Robert's) about B/R creatures. I do not claim this to be a completely original piece of work in that sense.

The intention is to lighten up the mood here a bit, and hope I succeed. The people I have chosen are, from my experience, whom I think to be the most sporting. Furthermore, I have written only about people whom I know pretty well, and/or about whom I could get something to write about individually or in combination.

Also, there is no particular deliberate order in which people have been arranged here.
