Ancelotti is still interested in the Italian playmaker Pirlo. The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea were willing to give €10 million plus Claudio Pizarro and Michael Mancienne on loan in exchange For Andrei Pirlo. It was, however, rejected by AC Milan.

It is surprising to see that Chelsea are still pursuing the 30+ veteran midfielder when they already have the likes of Ballack, Lampard, and Deco. So it appears that we Chelsea fans must be open to the idea that our marquee signing might be a 30+ midfielder of beautiful skill who may or may not adapt to the Premier League and not a smashing striker whom we hoped for.

I'm receptive to the idea of Andrei Pirlo joining us. He is skillful, creative, and has a few years of service left in him. Also he might be an eventual replacement for the retiring Ballack or the inconsistent Deco. Either way if Pirlo can adjust to the premier league, we do have a lot to gain. Also if we are to get Pirlo I would prefer that we send more decent players that way than more money.

It also makes sense for Milan to buy more players before the transfer window closes because, judging by their preseason form, they are in dire needs of reinforcements. Also with Silvio Berlusconi hesitant to sign any one above 23, Pirlo's wage scale and AC Milan's reduced finances is it just a matter of time before Pirlo moves from Milan to London?
