According to the NFL Network's Scott Hanson, Vikings head coach Brad Childress will not give quarterback Brett Favre a deadline to decide if he wants to return to the NFL with the Vikings this season.

Favre told reporters a couple weeks ago that he let the team know of his plans by August 30, the day the team reports to training camp in Mankato, Minnesota.

With Childress giving Favre no deadline, it gives everyone the indication of how badly the Vikings staff and front office want the three-time MVP quarterback leading their offense this season.

In an interview today, Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell said the chances of Favre making a return were "50-50." However, he also said it was his gut feeling that with all the work the retired quarterback was doing that he would probably want to return.

Stay tuned for more updates on 24/7 watch of Brett Favre.
