Rudy Gay (center) congratulates the blue team as he shined with the White team.
Rudy Gay did fantastic in the recent Team USA scrimmage. In just 27 minutes of fame, he wish he could have gotten fortune as well. In those 27 minutes, action soared on the court as he brought in 27 points, four rebounds, and three steals. He shot 75 percent from the three-point line while shooting 92 percent overall.
Gay truly was remarkable during that game.
Does this give Gay a reserved spot for Team USA? Not exactly. But as ESPN said it, he does get a far leap ahead of three contenders who are behind, and maybe cannot catch up: Andre Iguodala, O.J. Mayo, and Jeff Green. But I think Gay deserves to make the team, and I think he will.
“First of all, he played like a star today, especially with his team down and him trying to get them back in it. I didn’t know he was that explosive offensively, and he played really well. Really well,” Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski told ESPN.
