ACC vs. SEC: Who Has the Hardest Hitting Defenses?

Isaac ScheidtCorrespondent IJuly 28, 2009

Defenses are the pride of football in the South.

Nothing brings a crowd to life like a bone-jarring hit on a running back trying to make a cutback. Nothing can make 90,000 fans hold their breath like seeing a wide receiver blindsided while sprinting down field.

Over the past decade, the ACC and SEC have produced some of the biggest hits in highlight films everywhere.

Who can forget Clemson linebacker David Dunham spearing Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan and seeing the helmet fly off?

Has a wide receiver ever seen a scarier moment than when Georgia's Reggie Brown was drilled by Auburn's Junior Rosegreen?

Which conference has harder hitting defenses? Which ACC or SEC team has recorded the biggest hits? Was the hit on Georgia's Reggie Brown or Boston College's Matt Ryan a bigger hit?
