The Timberwolves have just traded Etan Thomas and two of their Four second round picks from the 2010 draft to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Chucky Atkins and Damien Wilkens. This is by no means a blockbuster trade, but it is also not a trade that will end up hurting the Wolves or the Thunder.

Chucky Atkins is a 34 year old, 5'11" pg, who will most likely be waived or traded to another team. But if he is not traded, the Wolves will have 4 pg at the start of the season, three of them being very young. If Atkins stays in Minnesota, he will be the Mentor that these young players need.

Damien Wilkens is a 29 year old, 6'6" sg/sf, who will most likely stay with our team and come off the bench for maybe 10 minutes a night. With him, we have we have a third shooting guard that can come off the bench for us.

The player we traded, Etan Thomas, can also help out the Thunder, because he is another big body that they need. He can come off the bench at either the power forward or center positions, and give some quality minutes.

All in all, this isn't a trade that David Kahn is writing home about, after this trade he doesn't look stupid either.
