How Would You Improve Bleacher Report?

As an active member of the Bleacher Report community, Jeffrey Klein would like to make a suggestion or two to the creators of the site, to help them improve the site. How would you improve BR?

No, I don't work for Bleacher Report.

If I did own this site, I would have banned the user MJ from writing for Bleacher Report. I find him obnoxious, but yet entertaining at the same time. He's a big fan of mine, so I expect him to be one of the first comments after reading this article.

Anyways, I've been using this site for over a month now, and I love it.

It's been a great opportunity to interact with other future sports journalists, and I can express my viewpoints freely on this site.

That being said, it isn't perfect. Here are some problems I've incurred.

1. I've lost a number of articles completely when trying to post them onto Bleacher Report, via Safari.

2. I spent two hours writing an article, and my article didn't appear on the front page under NBA. Why?

3. Do you ever feel like more people should be reading your articles, regardless of your status on the website?

4. I'm sure that you've incurred other problems, from uploading pictures to random posters who swear at you in a vulgar and offensive way.

I just want the creators of this site to get the feedback from the members of the community, and the Bleacher Creatures themselves.

If you write for Bleacher Report, you should comment on this article.

  1. Come out in Print, print some of the biggest stories of the month for each section and mail it out to subscribers. Just a thought...not much deep thinking and planning into it. I'll leave that to those who come up with websites like this.

  2. 1. I've lost a number of articles completely when trying to post them onto Bleacher Report, via Safari.

Solution: Type up your article on a Word type program, if you don't have that get GMAIL and type up your document then save it. Copy and Paste.

    2. I spent two hours writing an article, and my article didn't appear on the front page under NBA. Why?

Solution: Don't think just cause you wrote something it will pop up on the front page. This article isn't even about Basketball yet its on the Front Page of NBA, sounds like you should tag your articles better?

    3. Do you ever feel like more people should be reading your articles, regardless of your status on the website?

Solution: Maybe you shouldn't bash your fans, aka MJ in your articles? Or maybe when you write an article about problems you have with a site you should provide solutions to those problems or at least advice.

    4. I'm sure that you've incurred other problems, from uploading pictures to random posters who swear at you in a vulgar and offensive way.

Solution: No I haven't. Aren't you the guy who wrote an article that was so offensive it was taken off?

    But thats just me.

  3. I want the statistics feature to start working instead of saying coming soon.

    1. I agree with that, it's been bugging me, I want to know how I stack up.

  4. I have to say the HTML editor could be vastly improved. It's buggy and clumps everything together.

  5. I think that the only way that there can be more people viewing your articles is to start to build up a fan base. Also, more people viewing the site would help, but I know that there is really little that the creators can do to force people to view the site. The only real problem that I have had has been for one article that it didn't let me post. I've posted other articles and tried after posting an article (just copying and pasting because I had it saved in Word) and it still wouldn't work. It got real frustrating and cost me a good article and about an hour of time.

  6. Thanks for the exposure, dude. It's nice to know that you hate me so much because I removed you from my lineup--at least I know you can't stop thinking about me.

However, one thing I would do is to have only members comment--anonymous posts are cowardly (kinda like attacking someone who disagrees with you, but I digress) ways to ensure getting the last word and not having your ignorance challenged 'cause you won't read the responses. People really committed to their ignorance can find other ways, though...
