2008 Sugar Bowl Recap: Georgia Thumps Hawaii

UGA made a statement for next year by dominating UH and holding QB Brennan to 169 yards passing, less than 1/2 of his 348 ypg avg for the season. Brennan was under constant pressure and suffered 8 sacks, 3 interceptions, 2 lost fumbles and was knocked down repeatedly. UGA actually scored the most points in their school bowl history at 41 but only had 335 yards to show for it as they led 41-3 at the start of the 4Q and the Bulldogs used their backups in the final stanza.

UGA scored on their first 4 possessions of the game to lead 24-3 mid-2Q. UGA was SOD at the UH 38 and punted for the first time with :19 left in the half. UGA was intercepted at the UH 4 but then sacked Brennan and he fumbled and UGA received for a TD, 31-3.

UGA added a 50/6pl drive after an interception for a TD, 38-3 after 3Q’s. Backup QB Graunke came in for an injured Brennan in the 4th and led them 65/9pl for a TD and UH gained 166 of their 306 yards in the 4Q, trailing 41-3.
