The NFL is one of the toughest leagues to play in due to the roughness and the high-level ability of the leagues best players. But, even though you may have the best team out there, the stadium that you play in could affect the outcome of the game.

The fans, the condition of the field and the weather all come into play when you are out on the gridiron. It doesn't matter how good you are, if you can't play in the cold, the scorcing heat, the muddy grass or on the articficial turf, you can't be successful in the NFL.

Here is the Top 5 Toughest Stadiums in the NFL.

Note: These are NOT the best, they are the toughest.

5. Invesco Field at Mile High

It's very simple, Your playing one mile above sea level, up in the mountains, in the cold, cold air. Add that to the rowdy fans and you got yourself one tough place to play.

4. Heinz Field

I think every team will agree that the grass at Heinz is the worst in the league. If you don't believe them, watch the Dolphins-Steelers game on Monday Night Football last season, the score was 3-0, a last minute field goal.

The grass is bad enough, but add in the nasty Pittsburgh fans and the fact that the Steelers play great there and you have one tough stadium.

3. The Metrodome

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - APRIL 6: The Minnesota Twins host the Seattle Mariners at the Metrodome at opening day April 6, 2009 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is the last home opener at the Metrodome, the 2010 season is planned to be at the new Target Field, also

The dome is a tough place to play. Now it is inside a controlled environment and it is never too hot or too cold and you playing on turf, but it is still a tough place to play.

It can get hot and humid in there and it can lead to dehydration from the sidelines. And another factor is that all the fans are trapped in a dome and the noise is kept inside and it creates a loud place for opposing teams.

2. Arrowhead Stadium

Arrowhead Stadium is probably the loudest outdoor stadium in the NFL. It sometimes can hit over 100 decibels of noise at a time.

The scent of BBQ in the air and the rowdy fans creates havoc for visiting teams. It is especially difficult when the Chiefs are winning because the fans just get louder, but they have only gone to the playoffs twice in the past 10 years and they play in a very weak division.

That keeps them off of the No. 1 spot.

1. Lambeau Field

The Picture says it all. It gets cold, snowy and the fans get going. They don't care if its 10 below, they will be there to cheer on the Pack, and they will let you know.

The field is difficult to play on, snow or not, and it is cold all the time. It is one of the best stadiums, and it it the toughest.
