I've been on B/R for a couple months now, and I write almost all of my articles on my beloved Silver and Black.

During this off-season I've been able to read some great articles ranging from players that are gonna have break out seasons, players that need to step up this season, and the ever popular, breaking down the schedule articles.

In all the articles about Oaklands "breakout" players this season, I've seen no mention of Justin Miller.

It's time we shine the spot light on him.

Justin Miller was drafted in the 2nd round, (25th overall), of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.

As a rookie, Justin Miller made an immediate impact returning kicks. He racked up 1,577 yards with a 26.3 yard average along with one touchdown.

In 2006, Miller compiled 1,304 yards in the return game and averaged 30.1 yards a return with 2 touchdowns. His 2006 efforts earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl returning kicks for the AFC.

In 2007, Miller suffered a season-ending knee injury in a game against the Ravens and was waived by the Jets the next month.

Miller was claimed off waivers by the Raiders and he did not dissappoint.

Only seeing action in 7 games, Miller showed his explosiveness by returning 2 kickoffs for touchdowns, racking up 794 return yards and averaging just under 25 yards a return.

On top of having what people like to call, "Al Davis speed", Miller brings experience playing cornerback as well.

Look for Justin Miller to have a huge impact in the return game this season, and possibly make another run for his second Pro Bowl spot as the AFC return man.

Should the Raiders try to fit Miller into the defense more or leave things be?

  • I'd like to see him play more corner.
  • Don't mess with a good thing. Leave him where he's at.
